Business Model
What is MegaMerchant?
MegaMerchant is a cross-border e-commerce partner that puts brands on Europe's and the world's major marketplaces without them having to build the infrastructure themselves. We hold established seller accounts on more than 20 global and regional marketplaces — ABOUT YOU, Amazon, Otto, Zalando, Bol.com, Kaufland, Walmart, eBay and others — and we operate warehousing, fulfilment, returns handling, listing management, advertising and customer service behind them. Your brand starts selling without opening seller accounts, incorporating a company abroad, keeping foreign books or registering for VAT, and without getting held up by logistics, language or regulatory complexity. MegaMerchant is also Turkey's first authorised E-Export Consortium, a status granted by the Turkish Ministry of Trade.
Do we need to be a Turkish brand to work with you?
No. Our seller accounts, warehouses and fulfilment network sit in the European Union, the United Kingdom and the United States, and they work the same way whichever country your brand is based in. Turkish brands additionally qualify for Turkish government e-export incentives through our consortium status, but that is a bonus on top of the model, not a requirement of it.
What does MegaMerchant offer a brand that wants to sell across borders?
1. Our fully integrated, end-to-end infrastructure and established seller accounts let you start selling under your own brand on more than 20 marketplaces within two weeks, with no company formation and no store setup on your side. 2. We run the entire international logistics operation on your behalf, through our overseas warehouses, competitive rates, fast delivery and customs clearance service. 3. We handle returns in our own returns-processing centre and put sellable stock back on sale quickly. 4. We represent your brand properly in every market through advertising management, platform-appropriate content and communication strategy, and brand protection services. 5. Through Nova, our partner panel, you follow every stage of stock, orders and sales with transparent data.
How do I start selling with MegaMerchant?
1. Complete the Nova partner panel application form: https://partner.themegamerchant.com/signup 2. We carry out a readiness assessment together and close any gaps. 3. You upload your product list — items you produce consistently and stand behind — together with your prices to Nova. 4. We agree the logistics plan best suited to your products and set pricing. 5. We build launch and advertising plans for your brand in line with your marketing budget. 6. We manage the whole process end to end, from pricing through to customer service, while you track stock and orders in Nova.
Which countries will my brand and products be sold in?
Subject to suitability and mutual agreement, we can offer your brand and products in a wide range of countries and regions, principally: the European Union; the United Kingdom; the United States, Canada and Mexico; the Middle East and GCC countries; and Australia. Our centre of gravity is Germany and the wider DACH region together with the Netherlands.
Which marketplaces will my products be listed on?
ABOUT YOU (Germany, Austria, Netherlands, Belgium) · Otto (Germany) · Zalando (Germany and Europe) · Amazon (Germany, UK, EU, US) · Kaufland (Germany) · Limango (Germany) · Bol.com (Netherlands, Belgium) · Cdiscount (France) · Allegro (Poland) · eMAG (Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary) · eBay (US, EU, UK) · Walmart (US) · Trendyol (Europe) · Temu · TikTok Shop (UK). We are in continuous discussion with additional marketplaces and add them as they are onboarded. Brands are matched to the right marketplaces according to their product range and positioning.
Do I need to set up a company abroad?
No. Working with MegaMerchant, our established seller accounts mean you can start selling without opening accounts, incorporating a company, keeping foreign books or registering for VAT.
How does the commercial model work?
The model is deliberately simple: the only commercial matter between us is the price you give us. Your sale is our purchase. When your product sells, you have sold at that price; everything after that point is our business. Logistics, storage, platform commission, advertising, taxes, returns and customer service are all carried by MegaMerchant and are not charged back to you as separate line items. You sell across borders on a single price, as simply as selling on your home marketplace.
Who manages the marketplace storefronts?
MegaMerchant operates its own storefronts on the marketplaces. Localising your product content into the relevant languages for each country, uploading photography in line with platform rules, tracking orders and customer reviews, and managing every remaining operational process are all handled by MegaMerchant.
Are there minimum order quantities or bulk purchase discounts?
We have no such policy in the supply process. Which products go on sale, in which countries and marketplaces, and with what stock levels, is decided on the basis of our detailed market analysis, and we share that analysis with you.
What documents do I need in order to sell with MegaMerchant?
Depending on the product, various documents may be required at different points: 1. Export and import regulations in your country of origin and in the destination markets. 2. The rules of the marketplace in question. 3. The requirements of the logistics provider. 4. The requirements of the destination warehouses. Product compliance in the EU (CE marking, EPR and packaging registration, WEEE where applicable) is a frequent requirement, and our operations team will brief you in detail on the certificates and documents needed.
How and when am I paid once my products sell?
Your entitlement arises once the products have sold, and payment is made to your bank account at the end of the agreed sell-and-pay term. You can be paid in Euro, US Dollars or Turkish lira; the choice of currency is yours. You are protected against exchange rate movement between the sale date and the payment date — currency differences are not passed on to you.
What is your returns and exchange policy?
MegaMerchant takes on customer cancellation and return requests, and manages the process end to end, within the policy of each marketplace and the applicable law. Return rates in the German and wider DACH fashion market are high and this is normal for the market; our model is built to absorb them. Returned items go to our own returns-processing centre, where they are opened, quality checked, and — where suitable — repacked and put back on sale. See the Logistics & Fulfilment section for detail.
Who communicates with customers who buy the product on the platforms?
Our experienced customer service team represents your brand in every market with platform-appropriate, customer-specific communication and service.
Who sets the selling price, and how is profitability calculated?
The selling price of a product varies according to its wholesale cost; the country and platform it is sold in; the logistics and storage method; the return rate; basket size; and the competitive landscape. The price is calculated and proposed by the MegaMerchant pricing algorithm and goes live once the brand approves it. A realistic unit price from the brand — one that reflects market conditions — is essential to a healthy and sustainable pricing policy.
Can we open our own storefront after a while and run everything ourselves?
You can think of MegaMerchant as an incubator. Our aim is for our partners to build enough cross-border experience to bring the sales process in-house. Brand ownership and authorisation always remain with you, so you can open your own storefront whenever you choose and manage the whole process yourself — while continuing to use whichever parts of the MegaMerchant infrastructure you want, such as integration, fulfilment or advertising management.
What are the advantages of starting on international marketplaces with MegaMerchant?
1. No additional investment is required. You avoid the costs that are often unclear or only surface later — overseas company formation, accountants and tax advisers, account openings, fixed platform subscription fees, bank account fees, money transfers and product listing charges. 2. You do not reinvent the wheel. Our core business is keeping track of constantly changing country, platform and customs rules and acting on them. 3. You do not lose time. A go-live process that normally takes three to six months is completed quickly — your products are on sale within two to three weeks, and you launch on many platforms at once rather than a limited number of countries and marketplaces. 4. You benefit from a cost advantage. Thanks to the supply chain and volume consolidation MegaMerchant has built, logistics and storage are at least 20-30% cheaper than the rates you would obtain on your own, so your products are priced profitably and competitively. 5. You start with a strong seller account. Listed under healthy seller accounts with established volume and high customer satisfaction, your brand climbs the rankings quickly.
Logistics & Fulfilment
Who manages the logistics processes?
Our end-to-end integrated logistics infrastructure covers every operational need, from handling and storage to returns management, export processes and customs clearance. Our competitively priced fulfilment rates get products to the end customer safely.
How do my products get from my warehouse to yours?
Your products travel from your own warehouse directly to our overseas warehouse; there is no intermediate depot in between. Depending on the product's volume, turnover rate and sales plan, one of two methods applies: bulk shipment (planned dispatch by carton or pallet) or daily collection (regular pickup from your warehouse against orders). We decide together which suits your product.
Where will my products be stored, and will they be insured?
To optimise logistics costs, your products are positioned as close to the customer as possible: either in the facilities of our fulfilment partners in the European Union, the United Kingdom and the United States, or in the storage space of marketplaces that provide a fulfilment service, Amazon foremost among them — according to the marketplace and country of sale. MegaMerchant is in continuous discussion with potential fulfilment partners to secure the best service at the most competitive cost. All of your products are held in insured, technologically up-to-date warehouses.
What happens to returned products?
Returns go to our returns-processing centre in Europe. Each item is opened and quality checked; sellable units are folded, repacked and put back on sale. The important difference is that a returned item is not confined to the channel it came back from. A Zalando return can sell on Otto, an ABOUT YOU return on Limango, a German return in the Netherlands or France. Returned stock does not sit idle, the season is not lost, and there is no need to ship goods back to the country of origin.
Who acts as the exporter, and how is invoicing handled?
There are two methods, and either can be applied according to the brand's preference. 1. The brand handles export itself: it delivers the products to the MegaMerchant warehouse abroad and invoices MegaMerchant's overseas company. 2. MegaMerchant handles export: the brand delivers the products locally and invoices the relevant MegaMerchant entity. In both cases MegaMerchant's overseas company acts as the importer of record in the destination market.
